IMAGE: http://duanenoblick.zenfolio.com/img/v32/p994435388-4.jpg

This is two of the three adult males I have in my yard now and along with the juveniles and adult females it's hard to get any type of shot of them because of all the bickering they do. The male on the left still tries to run the yard but he is becoming outnumbered quickly and he does more chasing than feeding. I kind of feel sorry for him.....not.

Did I get lucky with this one or is it two images merged?

Nice work.

Outstanding shot. Sharp and clear. My guess is that they are merged but it's hard to say for sure. Well done.

Best regards

Sindri

Well Duane, if you merged them, then your PP skills are equal or better to your photography skills.

I just can't see two Males sitting so close to each other with out a different look in the eye (Gonna get you) than now. They look quite at ease here. even though the shadows on the branch and on the sides are very close to a match, the light on the back of each ones head is different and the sunspot in each eye is just a shade more north in number 2, though the two appear to be close to the same angle. My guess is like Lils with exception to your skills, I would guess that you merged them very well.
I have been watching mine and other posted here for that charcoal color you first described, Ian up in Nova posted one quite simalar to yours, I had one looking like that though not as full of color as yours, interesting question.
So after such an explanation for my guess, I am probably wrong! Very nice shots as usual.

Whoops...I posted this and when the forum went down it was lost..I guess it came back.

This is 2 images merged into 1 and anyone that knows Ruby-throated Hummingbirds would know this would never happen with two adult males sitting next to each other like this. The male on the left is the top dog in my yard and the one on the right is his competitor. They were playing king of the perch when I managed these two images about 5 minutes apart.

Bret...good observations but I think the catchlight is different because of the head angle. What gave it away on another forum was the tail feathers oof on the bird on the right because it was shot at f/6.3 and the one on the left was shot at f/8. Shows how narrow the dof is on the 500mm lens at mfd.

Cool effect, I think if I looked out my window and saw the two rivals I have here sitting like that, I'd probably faint!
Great shot(s) either way...
Mike
