Thanks, Bruce. Spent four full days shooting in and around Sedona last week. Got lucky with the sunset/moonrise on the first night, then got rewarded on the last night with a bit of rain, a peek of sun, a monsoon sky, and a rainbow over Cathedral Rock. Still sorting and processing...haven't gotten to the avatar yet. ;)

Very nice shot. Colors are nice and vibrant without being too much. Just right.

I find the colors too saturated for my tastes. Those of you using Adobe for processing, switch to Vibrance instead of any master saturation amount.

I like it very much. I'm fine with the saturation, as with glow time, it very well can look like that. Would you still de-saturate it, even if it's true to life?

Thanks. Can't improve much of what nature gives you...

No "master" saturation boost or vibrance adjustments of any type were made...PP for this was minimal and very simple...basic setting of white and black points, slight curve for contrast, capture and output sharpening, and pulled back the moon highlights just a hair...that was about it. The setting sun did the rest...

Hey Todd. Yep...the glow was caused by the setting sun. Shooting conditions were ideal. The glow lasted for about 5 minutes, which allowed for quite a few shots. I preferred this composition out of the others since the moon was basically centered, with the outside edges of the rock drawing up into the moon. The moon started out from the right upper hand corner of the left-most rock formation...

People don't get it these days. Nature can put on spectacular shows, it's shame so many just jump to,"Oh he saturated that, it obviously didn't really look like that in real life." Oh well. Nice shot.

To me the colors look just like what I remember from the last time I was out West, I still like it even if it doesn't suit some people's tastes.

Awesome; beautiful light. I love the placement of the moon; nicely composed!

That's okay. Everyone has an opinion, and I'm not going to diminish any of them, pro or con. A lot of up front planning went into the shot, and even still I needed to rely on a little luck with the weather. Generally, the best light in this area when shooting a full moon occurs the day before the full moon...that's when the moon and sun are both in the sky at the same time, which really lights up the rocks with the golden glow and keeps the moon bright. My avatar pic was shot two years ago on the day of the full moon...as you can see, the light was totally different since the sun had already gone down. I was there waiting on the day before, but the cloud cover was too great...sometimes you just get skunked and have to settle for what you can get. ;)

Beautiful picture!

The colors in the southwest are so brilliant at the golden hour that people sometimes mistake them for editing. It looks just right to me!
