i couldn't sell my pixma pro9000 ii since they 2nd market is over saturated with them at the moment, so i kept it and started printing some 4x6. i'm kind of glad i kept it now.

now i've caught the printing bug and want to get some more frames to hang on my walls. I just spent ~$150 on some 8x10 matted and 4x6 frames at target and bed bath & beyond. I probably could have gotten better deals online.

Any current deals or sites you guys use for purchasing frames? nothing professional/gallery needed, just for home/office type use for family photos.

I shop at Michaels and use their coupons. There's always a 40% off one item coupon somewhere out there, sometimes 50% off one item. Those are useful when purchasing bigger frames. Almost every other week they have 40% off their Home Collection frames (great frames). The BEST time to shop is to wait for their 40% off frames sale that you can stack with a 20%-25% off your entire order (including sale items). This happens about once every month or so. They carry a large selection, whether you're looking for contemporary or traditional, they usually have what you're looking for.

Here is a good coupon I just found: 25% off Regular and Sales Priced Frames (external link).

I'm sure between the dates listed, the 40% off frames sale will happen as well. I usually stock up during this time. Keep in mind that "clearance" and "sale priced" items are completely different. Most of the time, you wouldn't want clearance stuff anyways. Usually unsellable returned stuff, missing stuff, or really bad looking stuff. It's down it's own aisle (at least in Texas stores they are).

Other than that, I like DickBlick frames as well. Usually you can find a coupon online, although not as plentiful as Michaels. Shipping is flat-rate (or free over a certain amount spent), so that's great for frames since they can be a bit heavy. Only downfall is shipping time. Hope this helped!

Sometimes Kohls has amazing offers. I go there as well. Michael's has floating frames, so useful. I wait for their sale coupons and get one at a time.

Agree with you. I've also been known to buy one that already has a mat and picture and toss the picture for my own.

Also, try pictureframes.com as they sometimes have some good deals as well.

I dont know if you have a hobby lobby near you. They have a nearly perpetual 50% off sale on their custom framing components.

Just a heads up on the Hobby Lobby do-it-yourself components:

You'll need fairly hefty backing board behind prints. I had to frame 16 mounted prints for a show/sale and used the Hobby Lobby components to make 16x24 frames. Worked well but I was glad I had MPix mount the images on double-weight backing board.

Michaels currently has 40% off almost all frames + a 25% coupon on top of that. I just bought a few pre-matted 16 x 20 frames and a 18 x 24 with mat to go along with it. Great stuff!

Good move keeping the printer, I really enjoy mine. Moreover, it is hard getting prints done in matt surface paper; so with your own printing, you can use whatever surface your want.

Besides Michael's, JoAnn Fabrics has frames too. Never pay full price, always get them when they are having a sale, otherwise, you pay too much.

Also check out TJMaxx and Marshall's for some unusual frame selections at a decent price.

If you are going to matte your pictures, go to a art store to get your matte boards. Photo shops and even Michaels and JoAnn charge way too much. Get a good beveled matte cutter and then go to the hardware store and invest in a good thick metal ruler. You will also want a cutting surface, you can get them at JoAnn's.

Have fun!

If you sign up for BedBath&Beyond emailing list, you can get a 20% off coupon for 1 item. This is good if you're looking to a buy a big or high quality frame.

This is what I do as well ^ It seems to generally be the best bet.
