Clothing color selection for multiracial family

I have been asked to do some family portraits of some good friends of mine; they are a multiracial family.

Father and Mother are both very fair skinned, their oldest son (adopted) has Italian (Olive) colored skin and their daughter is mixed African/American & Hispanic dark, but not real dark skin.

What color clothing will suit the family given the setting will be outdoors? I want to be able to suggest clothing colors that will compliment their spectrum of skin tones.

The only real problems I ever had were people wearing pure black or pure white.

Either one is an issue.

Other than that, no worries.

I'd go with something solid, no patterns, in mid toned blue range as it will flatter every skin tone and will look great in a natural environment, whether that be green grass or trees, or brown landscapes.

Would khaki color work for the pants, assuming they all wear mid-tone blue colored shirts?

Any neutral would work, khaki is a neutral. You will find something interesting though, when finding "khaki", and that is the fact that unless you buy all the same pants, which I wouldn't do, they will NOT all be the same color. Khaki can be brown toned, gray toned, yellow toned, etc. I wouldn't let that bother me, don't overthink it. I'm just sayin'. ; ) I don't like it when everyone is dressed exactly alike, there is nothing wrong with a bit of variety, as long as they are all the same level of formality/casualness etc. Again, don't overthink it.
