I notice something I see in my own pics. Did you unsharp mask #3 a lot? When I do that I see those same white spots (I think they are water) become more prominent. I mean the ones on the beetle. Curious

footdoc - no I do not overly sharpen. But I do a levels/contrasts adjustment before doing any sharpening with the default settings in the Nik Sharpener plug-in.

Nice work, very sharp, good color, they look very clean. I am surprised that you posted without EXIF info. What lens and body were you using? (You might also consider adding a signature so that we can, at least, see what you had to choose from.)

About the EXIF - the pics are hosted on Picasa and Google has it own ideas about what they want to show or not. Wish they would change that.
