Hello guys! I would love some feedback.

After saving for almost two years (and having purchased and learning a Rebel XS in the meantime), I was finally able to buy a Canon EOS 7D body a couple of weeks ago. Naturally, I was ecstatic.

Earlier this year, I snagged a new Rebel XS kit (with a non-IS 18-55mm lens and a non-IS 75-300mm) and purchased a 1.8 Canon 50mm and a Tokina 11-16mm. Buying such a basic DSLR forced me to learn and I quickly pushed the camera to the farthest extent of its capabilities. This made me appreciate the 7D sooOOOOOO much more because I was so familiar with a camera that just couldn't quite do what I wanted it to do.

Just days after I got the 7D, I took it, the Tokina and the VERY BASIC and non-image stabilized 75-300mm lens to a baseball game at Safeco Field in Seattle... below are the results... I haven't cropped or edited them in anyway except to resize and compress them.

Nice.

Was this a weekend game? I remember back when the Safe used to sell out every game. It's sad to see the stadium so empty.

This was a Monday game... But at least half the fans were from Canada. The Mariners have been so bad for so long that attendance has become an issue for them.

Please note that there is a maximum number of photos that can be posted in a thread, which is 8 - this means 8 per thread, not 8 per post).

Please read the image posting rules posted at the top of each section.

I've had to remove the excess images.

I think the 75-300 is pretty small when not zoomed out. I just bought one from a fellow POTN member, and should get it in a few days, so I might do the same in my area...

Nice shots...

Almost all your shots are out of focus.

Try to keep an eye on the "horizon" and it being straight. You got a couple that are slanted (like #4), which could easily be fixed in post. It's something I struggle with, but I've been using the grid in the view finder to help keep things straight when shooting with my 7D.

Thanks for all of the comments guys, I really appreciate it! Good or bad, feedback is always important for growth!

The lens I used for all of the shots (except for the wide-angle shot of the stadium from the upper deck) was this one; http://www.the-digital-picture.com …-III-USM-Lens-Review.aspx (external link)

I understand that it's about the cheapest, lowest-quality telephoto lens known to man but it's all I have (though I aspire for much, much better).

Would a better piece of glass helped me dial in much better quality shots right out of the box? I really tried to push this lens to the limit (extremely high ISO, etc.) but don't know how much more I could get out of it....

One of the posters above is correct; I def. had focus issues, but I'm not sure if that was strictly an issue related to how slow the lens is or whether I need to continue to learn and adapt to the AF system in the 7D. Probably a bit of both.

I'd love to invest in a much better (and faster) telephoto lens for sports but need convincing it would help me get my sports photos to the next level.
