What triggers would you suggest?

I have a 430EXII and a 580EX. right now im using cheap ebay triggers to trigger each flash. I use both speedlights in umbrellas and a shoot through umbrella and a small softbox.

Without going crazy in price, what would be the best setup for me? Down the road i plan on getting a 580exII.

I hear they dont lock on the hotshoe. and since i use em on light stands, i would prefer they do, lol. The ones i have now are the ones with the umbrella holder built on the actual trigger itself. Works great but one has stopped working when i get more then 2 feet away from it. They also have a the threaded hole to mount on a light stand at the bottom

anyone have any opinions on the Cactus V5? or maybe the v4 ?

Yes, the rf602 (which I have) does not lock into hot shoes. However the receivers have threads on bottom so it can be attached to light stands or tilt brackets without a problem.

If you buy good umbrella brackets, they should have a thumb screw lock anyway, so I don't know how big of a deal that is.

I had yongnuo RF-602, but the max sync speed for me was only around 1/160 of a second. I switched over to Cactus V5s and now I get the full 1/200 sync speed.

looks like its cheaper direct. not by much. shipping looks to be cheaper on amazon though.

I tihnk last time I ordered Cactus V5s direct, shipping was around $12, and it took nearly 3 weeks to get them.

the amazon seller is a few bucks more ($65 versus $59), but shipping is only $5 versus the $12 for gadgetinfinity.....plus you might get them faster.

Within the last month and a half, I bought the Cactus V5 duo from Gadget Infinity, and also off Amazon. The direct web site took 3 weeks, and Amazon took 1 week.

there you go.... I know gadget infinity offers expedited shipping for an additional cost over their standard shipping (which I'm pretty sure is like $12 if I remember).

so it looks like it ends up being a better deal going through Amazon.

Got my cactus v5s from mpex.com, same company PWard linked to on Amazon. Took 3 days from order to delivery with UPS. Not sure about shipping times and cost to get to Canada but I'd recommend them. The downside is they list the shutter release cable as out of stock. I just ordered one from gadget infinity last week but who knows when it will arrive.
