Nikons announcement today was a Nikon Coolpix P7100. Yawn  McNally used D3x and D7000 for video. Yawn! NEXT! At least that is better than canons calculator

ohhhh..... :( but if they announced some P&S today then I guess they will be announcing something bigger tomorrow.

but I guess not coz there have been no sightings at all :( new items will probably be made in Malaysia? I can't believe they move their whole plant out of Japan

I built up a collection of CPLs over time -- every new lens tended to demand an upgrade of polarizers, so I have one for just about every lens size up to 82mm, and yet I rarely actually use one! I know I should, but my pouch of polarizers is one bit of gear that I tend to not remember to pack!

Almost all my filters are very cheap, very low end ones i bought ages ago and they really need an upgrade

One problem i have is the fact so few of my lenses share filter threads...so its either use adapter rings which interfere with my lens hoods or buy duplicates

with polarizers you need to remove the hood anyway so just buy the biggest...either 82mm or 77mm and get some step up rings :D

Probubly going Hoya, and getting a 77mm, And Monkey's advice is probubly right, just get the 77mm and use step up/down rings to get down to the other sizes

Option 2 is invest in one of those filter systems like Dizzle has and get a polarizer for that

well the CPL works well when I don't have the Lee Foundation kit on. But when I do, sometimes I could do with a CPL that fits in foundation kit.

Yeah, that was a major consideration for me -- I bought "good glass" and accompanied the lens with good quality CPLs (I stopped buying UV filters after maybe one because I just never use them).

That can complicate things! I have some adapters, but like I said, I tended to need bigger filters, so the adapters didn't get used!

One thing about a polarizer, though:

Especially if you shoot Raw, you have a lot of latitude in adjusting things, both in the tones and the colors!

one very important lesson I learned very very early on is to buy big filters and use adapters

that's what I did for my IR filter and my old ND filters, I bought 77mm on both.. so I only have a bunch of adapters and did not have a lot of filters :D

Yep, i do those sorts of tricks already :) Course having a polarizer is always handy for reducing reflections and that, I put it on because my neighbor had his nice G8 parked in a good way to get some nice photos of it, i just was waiting for the light to go down a bit so hopefully i got good light, The light wasnt the "best" it could be but i still have some nice shots...

On the rear screen quite a few look good, but some angles there is obviously some ghosting and flare, The 28mm f/1.8 is already flare prone as heck and adding a cheap polarizer did not help matters

As for filters...lets see i have:

58mm, 67mm, 72mm and 2x 77mm

^- looks like it works better for polarization

Now i have an ethical question and i cant remember if i asked it before

Basically many weeks ago i got myself a new bag to carry my 7D around with me everywhere because my old one had no padding or anything and was looking like heck after 5 years of heavy use and abuse

So I was at best buy and saw one i liked, and it happened to fit everything perfectly, so i got it and a harmony remote, went to the register and everything and the woman proceeded to ring it all out and everything, Didnt even think about the price until 2 days later when we were contemplating returning the harmony remote..

Turns out, the bag didnt scan! She deactivated the security tag on it and everything but it apparently never rang into the register...

So basically, I got a free $70 messanger bag and i have NO clue on how to feel about it sometimes...
