I was reading an article on some of the safety improvements they made on the Freedom Tower over the Twin Towers... it's pretty crazy.

Ha. That seems even more suspicious. Use the S95 next time. It's in-between a phone pic and a dslr. Heh. ;)

Nah, go all the way with a 300 2.8 so they know you're getting good shots of the infrastructure then ride away

Yup Ill try to take a shot from that same angle again. That location is the only way to literally be right next to it. All other locations you can only see it from afar.

I sped away because i foot zoomed (in this case bike zoomed, dont like the iphone zoom) and was in the middle of the street!

Reminds me. About 4 or 5 years after 9/11 i was right at the foot of the George Washington bridge on the jersey side. Took my camera out and literally two police officers came out of no where. Told me i cant take pictures from that angle. Low and behold i didn't see a sign which stated that. Cant take pictures from right under the GWB as its deemed a critical infrastructure point.

You can take photos in NYC no problem but, with the awareness of terrorists threats, I assume it's only in certain locations.

yes you would probably get reported if you took more than one photo with a DSLR, but camera phones no problem
