I've shot on the streets of NYC and never had a problem but, from what I recall, the bridges and certain structures are the ones that are always on watch. A few examples would be the Empire State Building and Rockefeller Center. These places are high volume for tourists but, never had witnessed an issue with photography here.

Bunch of things... Big one: finally got fed up waiting for the bank lady to call and I called her myself. Found out that they "successfully approved" me for $3000 less than they originally said. That's a huge difference when it comes to truck shopping.
