A four mile hike in along the west fork of Oak Creek brings you to an area known as the "mini-Zion", complete with a double subway formation. After five water crossings and wading through knee-deep water, an area opened up where the cliffs were coated in desert varnish. Started the hike at 5am and got there in time to set up and catch the sun glinting off the trees at the top of the canyon. Shot with 5D2 + 24-70L, with Singh-Ray LB Color Combo polarizer.

Beautiful area. Nice shot too. It really looks like Zion.

Beautiful shot. It's unfortunate that is so far from the parking lot :).

Helps to keep out the riff-raff...basically had the entire canyon to ourselves for several hours until the light went 'bad' :D

Whats to critique about a perfect shot? Absolutely gorgeous. Many KUDOS.

Have plenty of Canons, enough ammo, enough to blow 'em to "L". Now, I just have to learn to aim.

Beautiful Mike. Totally worth the hike imo. Did you go by yourself?

You must not have read the first sentence---he said "4 mile hike".;)

No...I was with a few friends from the Sedona area. I may do it later again in the fall once the colors change...I heard that its pretty spectacular.

I don't know Bruce...I didn't figure you for a "parking lot shooter" (you must have someone else taking the pics that you've been posting). ;)
