Awesome pic and great lens! I have the same one on my 60D and great combo. I've thought about "upgrading" to the faster glass (17-55mm) but still haven't made the move. We'll see. Enjoy!

The $$ is my sticking point as well. I am also debating with myself the benefits of an extra 2mm wide and 15mm long. Will be geting rid of at least one tele and probably the 18-55 so I will make up the $ difference. Decisons Decisions.

Although the initial outlay is a lot higher than a Sigma or Tamron, the Canon lenses generally hold their resale value much longer(L-lenses especially). The extra 2mm on the wide end is a huge advantage, that no other's offer.. and is quite noticeable. If the hood came with it, i think a lot more people would recommend/buy this excellent lens. Having to buy the hood is paramount to a slap in the face, IMHO.

Keep in mind the Canon has a real ring type USM as well....

And 4-Stop IS which is the latest generation IS. I believe this lens is very new released in late 2009. So barely 2 years old.

The 15-85 IS is a great lens. I use it on my 60D all the time. For indoor use, wireless control of the 430EX makes using flash a breeze. Finally, 15mm is significantly wider than 17mm. There is some vignetting wide open at 15mm, but stopping down to about f/5.6 basically cures that. Great lens in my opinion.
