She's an umpire. The field didn't have stadium lights so I attempted to simulate it with strobes.

Nice concept but it would look a lot better if you actually had the guy sliding into home plate with the dust flying. Also, batter would realistically not be that close to the action in a real game with a play at the plate like that.

I agree. We had to make do though. I even had a leaf blower to kick up dust but for reasons I won't mention we couldn't use it. It bugged the crap out of me at first but the more I look at it the more I like it because the basic idea of a girl umpiring in a dress and heels is so absurd that a lack of full reality in the shot doesn't bother me as much as I thought it would.

Not to overly defend myself, but I'm so over the idea of eliminating all harsh shadows.

Having said that, I'd definitely fix those issues if I had it to do all over again.

Love the concept and I don't think the lack of dust is a problem. I think it helps to emphasize the absurdity.

Also, I don't think the batter would be standing there during a run home and the female's left hand looks a little odd. cool concept though!

You know, looking at this image objectively I would not come up with the thought that this is a "senior portrait" of a girl who does umpiring. Just relaying what I see and what I don't see in this photo concept. It looks more like a model shoot concept because the girl looks so very out of place in this image how she's dressed and positioned/posing.

Thanks! That's the entire concept & purpose. :D

She's holding a ball/strike/out clicker FWIW.

Hahaha yeah Sydney is the girl. I think they're all seniors but Sydney was my client. The other fellas are her friends and helped us out. She's an actual legitimate umpire for baseball games, and it's extremely rare for a girl to be an umpire. We decided to play that up with the contrast of the dress and heels. It's real femininity in a masculine role....as opposed to a masculine woman in a male role.

Wouldn't the batter be wearing a helmet? The runner/slider and batter are also wearing 2 different colored hats and their shirts are different. I am sure you knew this. lol. Its an interesting concept though.
