I found this spider on a window of my house. The entire web covers the entire window. Amazing! I took these today, and will be able to take more, but thought I would see if anyone here has any ideas how I can improve these shots.

I have a macro lens - Sigma 70-300. Not the best, but I'm getting some good photographs with it. My camera is a Canon 40D

Thank you in advance

Compositionally I like #3 the best. The reflections detract IMO
The lack of sharpness is an issue, esp #2
I cant get your EXIF data (unless my plug in isnt working)
Can you share your settings, that way we can help you better?

cheers, Paul

I would try to increase contrast on the web to expose it more from background. Second image is grainy and not sharp. Very interesting spider (Sydney, no wonder ;)
On first photo, If you get full second shade and compose it vertically - it may have looked cool - like 3 spiders instead of one

I go for #1 because i like the shadow falling under. Ya there is a lack of sharpness. Use a tripod in next shots.

Look nice, except the sharpness, need to be a bit closer to.

For C&C I would move watermarks out of the center of the photo.

Thank you .. I did try increasing the contrast but the web just didn't want to pop. Maybe I'm doing something wrong.

The second image is probably not as grainy as you think. The window behind the spider was mottled with old rain drops and probably needed cleaning. Also, again ... the quality dropped once I loaded them on this forum.

I like the shadows too ... it's different from others that I have seen. I will have to take my tripod out there tomorrow. Thanks for the response!

Here is another one I shot more towards evening - she turned around so this is her underside.

Here is one where the window reflection really stands out.

IMAGE: http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h62/Spidy5005/Macro%20and%20Bugs/_MG_1802n.jpg

Most of these shots are tack sharp on my computer, so I'm sorry that you are unable to see them the way that I do. I am disappointed in the dirty window. Is there an easy way to clean that up in Photoshop? I have Elements 2 ... I know :(

Thanks again everyone for the comments!!
