Working on honing my flash technique, both on and off camera. Are there any books that detail specifically what aperture, shutter speed, etc to use with this or that flash setting, specifically in manual mode?

I've looked at Joe McNally's Hot Shoe Diaries and Syl Arena's book for Canon speed lights and the canon speedlight system book, and I read the Strobist blog but I'm not sure which is going to teach me the best way and I'm tired of shooting and chimping. Am about to invest in a light meter as well as I think they would help.

Are you asking for a book that tells you the aperture, shutter speed and flash setting to use in certain situations? If so it doesn't exist. Each shot, setting and situation will require different settings depending on the desired out come.

I think Syl Arena's book would be a great place to start to learn how all those items mentioned (aperture, shutter speed, ISO and flash settings) work together. Once you learn that then you will be able to apply that to your situational shooting.

You've read the best 3, now it is time to just shoot so Joe, Sly and David's instruction become second nature.

I was going to post the same thing; glad I actually read a few posts in this thread!
For someone just starting out learning how to shoot with on and off-camera flash (which, oddly enough, can both be abbreviated as OCF), Neil's book is very easy to understand and he always provides the exif data so you can see how he did what he did.

Another book you might want to check out is Digital Wedding Photography, by Glen Johnson.
