I need some help in learning how to do this. I made an attempt but am stuck as you will see below.

I had set up a shot for the USN to take a photo down a road on a sunny morning. Unfortunately one car decided to be different from the previous car and park itself right in my shot. I need more road below the subject group (hence why I don't just crop it), so I am attempting to remove the car and blend the road in. I will be applying a light lens blur to cover the differences in bokeh later. I am stuck at the different shades and extension part.

Original photo that said car (yes I was a bit angry but rolled with it - can't control everything :D)

I had taken a test shot about a minute before (luckily) and will be using it to replace the car.

Lucky Test Shot Now Useful Some More:

And finally my crappy attempt at fixing first photo using blending (LOL), removal etc.

Sad Attempt to Remove Car that Made Me Angry

Any help would be greatly appreciative. Specifically I am looking for the steps to remove the car (if not done correctly), blending the photos in that section correctly, and extending the road down enough to prevent said group from running off the edge.

Thanks for your time

Rob

p.s. none of the photos have had any treatment besides the attempt to blend. Color, curves etc have not been applied as of yet. If I can get this done I will post the final result to close the thread for future reference and help.

edit: I am off to another job, will be back in about 4 hours - in case there are any questions. Thanks.

I had a go...

Open both images in layers...the one with the car on top.
Apply a layer mask, and with a soft black brush, brush out the car.
The road in the image without the car was too dark, so I applied some curves to match the road tones.
Merge layers and crop.

(just noticed that i didn't crop well in the bottom left, but this was only small JPEG from here anyway.

Thank you very much. I feel like an idiot for over thinking it. Curves - was so close. I will post the final product later - have to run.

Again thanks for taking time out of your day to help me out!

Rob
