Been working with portraits lately. Experimenting and trying to figure out what might work.

I think they all work pretty well! Good lighting, focus and exposure
#1 - interesting framing...the angle looks a bit distorted to me though down to her feet. Were you elevated?
#2 - Maybe too much on top and not enough air at the bottom.
#3 - His lean to the left is too much and he really needs to find something to do with his left arm :) - the odd background works for me.
#4 - too much space up top and he looks nervous/shy....nice background.

I really like the lighting in #3. I think it adds a lot of depth to the face.

#1? how wide of a lens where you shooting? looks too wide and when she is off to the side like that a wide lens will distort more. should be shot with at least a 50mm

#1. I shot with a 17-40L. @40mm. Thought it would be fine unfortunately it wasn't once I uploaded it to LR. I tried to fix the distortion in pp also. Might have to give it a bit more. I believe I was also aiming down with the camera.

#2. just so you guys know, we were trying to recreate a certain shot he wanted. He's a composer and really wanted a picture like the one he found on a CD. Bonus if you know who it is =)

#4. he is also a composer. I asked him to relax and be more informal infront of the camera and he gave me the "Do you think my music sounds happy and relaxed??". Composers.. are weird people =)
Here's the picture he actually preferred over the one I posted.

I like the last three - good light and composition. The head room doesn't bother me in this instance because of the lights.

on #1 I really like the composition and the light. The angle is just a bit too much.
