Canon BG-E7 Issue

Just noticed that one of my Canon BG-E7's doesn't recognize two batteries at the same time. If you take one or the other out, it will recognize the battery (doesn't matter on the position). Also found it interesting that the power will stay on with the battery door open. The BG-E7 on my second 7D recognizes both batteries (same pair) AND shuts off as soon as the door opens.

Both are genuine Canon batteries and Canon battery grips.


Does anyone have any experience with this?

the one not working could be a counterfeit, I've never known a genuine grip not to work.

Have you swapped the grips around to eliminate the camera or batteries etc.?

I bet there is a micro switch on the door somewhere that's stuck, maybe has some dust in it or something. That might cause the grip to not turn off when the door is opened.

Yes. Same problem on the other body. Even tried it with other batteries and it's the same problem.
