Has anyone attempted this? This popped into my head as I have been playing around with Pano shots but recently stumbled on the sunrise thread and thought...wouldnt it be cool if I could capture the sunrise on the first shot, then throughout the day take the middle shots for the pano and then towards the evening finish up the panoramic shot with the sun setting.

Has anyone attempted this? Would it work?

I sure will once I can get the time and open space for hit.

I have actually seen something like this. It was for a lunar eclipse, and the photographer tracked from full moon rise (at sunset) through the eclipse until full moon set (at sunrise) by shooting in 30min to hour intervals (I can't remember exactly). He then stitched it in horizontal alignment.

I think this would be a cool idea regardless to try, but I'd worry about shooting the midday shots with the sun in the frame since it would overpower the exposure. Still, you should still try it out.

i have seen something similar done in North Cape, in Norway.
Because it is (a lot) north from arctic circle, during summer there is 24h a day the sun in the sky.
So, i saw a pan shot taken in such a away that in each "frame of the picture" there was the sun.
So in the same panorama shot there were 12 suns and we could see the sun's path in the sky!
It was actually a great shot!
;)

Go for it, it's a great idea!!!
