Do you wear sunglasses when photographing a wedding in the bright sun?

No, and no. Wearing glasses at all is kind of a pain when shooting, sun glasses would make it tougher.

I have used a tripod in the past for family portraits, but I just dont find it necessary

I had LASIK not too long ago and still have a little sensitivity to bright sunlight. So yes, I wear sunglasses. But lift them up when shooting.

I've never been able to get use to my eye being that far away from the eye piece. Glasses of any kind really make it difficult for me to frame and shoot, so, no sun glasses for me.
Starting out in film (medium format) I was always on a tripod for the formals and always used a shutter release. Maybe it's a matter of habit but I still use both.

I wear my sunglasses during most outdoor shooting, if it's sunny. More often than not, if I'm shooting in bright sunlight, I have my subjects with their backs to the sun. This means the sun is hitting me directly and I really hate to squint. I have no problem looking through the viewfinder while wearing sunglasses.

I don't. I wear prescription glasses and switching back and forth between regular and sun would be a pain. That and my sunglasses are pretty dark; I've never tried but suspect the readouts through the viewfinder would become difficult to impossible to read.

No i dont and its a PIA when you have to move to shade to see the viewfinder. Looking into one of those cover things you wear and can set on viewfinder to see. Ive seen a few guys using them and they swear by them.

No time, they get in the way when I need to shoot. I keep a cheap pair for tossing around.

Sunglasses darken the viewfinder and make it very hard to read the line of data on the bottom.

I have very light sensitive eyes, so i do. Sometimes i'll flip them up onto the top of my head, but if I don't have them it's the worst day of my life. (hyperbole)

DITTO

and i use a tripod for family photos at the altar if i know i'll have big groups
and if there is room in the aisle for people to get around me and the tripod.

the tripod is worth it if i think i'll have a lot of faces to swap, and only then :)
