I was talking to a photographer I work with and he told me he sends out a sheet to his clients before the wedding to give good tips for a wedding to go smoothly for photography. I was thinking about expanding on this and adding some reminders as well, and wanted to know what you all thought could go on the list.

The plan is to send this to the couple about a month before hand. Obviously I will reword this, but the basic idea is there

Tips:
First look - helps us get more time for photos during the nice light, and for you to enjoy more time with your guests
Take as many family shots before ceremony
Leave the rings with the girls for the getting ready portion of the day - if there is time this allows the photographers to get some photos in the natural light.

Reminders:
Final payment is due 2 weeks before the wedding
I require a hot meal for myself and second photographer

What else do you think would be good to add to the list?

I usually ask the couple for a list of all family members' names, so I don't have to keep saying 'Hey You' to everyone when it's time to gather them together for the group shots. I also ask for an itinerary of the wedding day (if I haven't had a direct hand in it myself). As for First Looks, I do recommend those, and set them up whenever I can, but I don't see how that helps us get more time during the nice light. In my experience, the First Look images are always created before the ceremony, when the light is at its worst.

As far as documents go my clients complete this document (external link).

As for tips I point them to this (external link).

I do something similar, but it's a phone call (even a meeting if they're very local). We go over the final logistics of the day but I also cover the following:

- I want the both rings at the bride's dressing location
- I need to ensure the bouquets will be delivered to her dressing location (sometimes they're scheduled to be delivered by the church which would make them unavailable for pre-ceremony portraits)
- Have a copy of their wedding invitation available at the dressing location
- If doing a first look, it's important that the three of us are alone
- Everyone has a different approach, but I go over how I like to manage the group shots to keep them efficient
- Special moments or things I should know about (gifts to each other, something being sewn into her gown, etc.
- I always ask for an emergency contact; someone who will have their cell phone on but NOT the couple
- A reminder about final payment
- Confirm that I and my assistant get a meal

All valid tips and great information.
