Psychodweep - those links are almost all pre-test to test units. There are many misleading comments in them, including in the LightingRumours review.

Look for valid comment dated from August 2011 on.

Cliveyboy,
I would like to read your review but the google doc thing is an absolute pain.
I signed into google docs with my google ID and am told the doc is not available or I lack permission.

It seems to me that it would be better to make the document universally available rather than behind google's security curtain, which just gives them a chance to post ads to me.

dmward - I agree with you. It was my first use of Google Docs, and it was fine after I made it publically available without log-in. But then on the 9th, Google disabled the upload facility for IE8 users. They say they are fixing it, or use Chrome. No way, I do not trust them. The file was lost while trying to upload version 4 of the review. Version 5 is being prepared now.

I would like to make the document universally available, as I did with the Knight Review. I no longer maintain a website. What do you suggest?

I am not prepared to post the rest of my review on POTN after the moderators move its start to "Marketplace". Who looks there? "Search" does, I know, but that is not good enough.

CliveyBoy - do you have a Facebook "fan" page for your photography? You could post the review as a doc there - that would be public

I use Safari and it was blocked as well. I think that Google has some serious problems.
As for a solution, I don't know.

It seems that the forum admin should be able to find a method for making large documents available but I'm not conversant in the technical details.

I have a Sendit account with a drop box but that would only be useful for me. :-)

Thanks, David.

I have been able to re-establish my review, with a new link:

Question before in Pixel Knight it always turns your Flash' HSS mode on by default...does King to the same thing?

Yes. But unlike the Knight, the King follows Canon's protocol for actually using HSS. At and below x-sync, HSS is not used.

I have no access to a Nissin, so cannot say.

Can the Nissin be mounted on the camera direct, and be controlled by the camera's FCM? If not, the Kings would not be able to add that capabliliy to the flash.

The Kings are about implementing by radio what Canon has done in-camera with what Canon has done in-flash, and has provided programming access. Third parties may well not provide complete programming or access.

Can you elaborate on this one sir?...

So the flash will turn it's HSS function on/ff automatically depending on your camera's shutter speed?

i sold my knights and picked up the kings and i must say... these units are MUCH larger than the knights... a lot larger than i imagined.

and i was very surprised and the packaging and what you get with them. very well packed and came with a lot of stuff. trigger, receiver, pouch, pc sync cables, stands, hot shoe cover, usb cables, wrist straps (dunno why) and packed very nicely. everything was wrapped in plastic, bubble wrapped. they put silica in the box, then in the pouch that they came in and also in the battery compartment. they didn't want moister getting in there

i def like adjusting setting by the camera menu better than the little LCD they had on the knights. i also like the on off switches rather than a power button like the knights had. changing channels and groups is much easier on these than the knights. i always found the knights a bit cumbersome to use because of the little LCD and the super simple looking menu with only 2 buttons to navigate.

I tried using a Pixel Knight set before because of it's HSS function, didn't liked it at all. So i ended up asking for a refund, lucky enough the owner agreed to give me one.

Now i'm after a Pixel King or the Phottix Odin, don't know which one to get...

Yes, except it is the camera which enables/disables HSS, and issues commands to the flash. The trigger must be able to intercept those commands, convert them to radio-carried signals, and back again to what the flash needs. That's why triggers can optimise HSS - they can alter timings on the flash.

I think Phottix Odin is more like PW miniTT + AC3. One set of transmitter and receiver is ~$350. That's 2X of Pixel King. Hardly fair to put them on the same level.
