I really liked it.

Two points though.

The intro with the sharp loud sounds was disconcerting when the text appeared.

The flashes from the house, I would have removed those.

Thanks for the feedback mtimber.

One the two points, so the intro title sounds were just too loud/distracting? I'm on take two of this cut and did adjust the sounds some. Would bringing the sound level down work or should I use a different key sound for the titles?

The flashes from the house was more for my personal taste, it's a reminder to the family (who were in the cabin that night) of them getting up to go to the bathroom :)

I think you are showing something beautiful peaceful and awe inspiring.

Whereas the sounds at the beginning are harsh.

Maybe you should do a copy for the public and one for the family?

I would prefer the one without the lights in the house as it distracts from the sky. :-)

Sounds like like good advice...I'm not the best with NLE sound/video stuff. I'll try a bit softer intro, something a bit more atmospherically calming.

I'll try a cut with the lights cloned out and see how that turns out.

How's the over-all EV of the footage? Each frame was 31 seconds, ISO 1600, f/2.8.

Thanks!

To be honest, I was so captured with the stars moving that I did not worry about the technical aspects, only the distracting aspects. :-)

I think it looks good too. I watched with no sound, so I can't comment on the audio. In this case, I think you might have achieved a little more interest with actually having some lighting on the house. It would add a little to the foreground element. However you could go either way on this, so it's subjective.

The skies look great. I didn't see anything glaring, and I don't have a fix for the hot pixel issue, except that your editor should be able to do bulk edits, and since the pixels don't move, it should be relatively easy to fix them all in one go.

Anyways, it's a great first attempt - do more!
