Calling E1 strap user

How do you access the buttons above the top LCD?

I find that the strap is blocking the way so I have to use my left hand

And you?

Use a E1 strap on a 20D and have no problem and I have quite large hands

You may have it too tight.

As Doc says, it sounds like you have it too tight. You should be able to move your index finger to the wheel and your thumb to the buttons.

oh... ok
I set it tight enough so I could feel the strap on my back of my hand... it seems too tight then.
oh well... silly question
