Made a little mock promotional video. Practice! Interested in what others doing this DSLR stuff think.

Not bad. I think there was too many slider shots though. Effect felt over used.

Good point. As I was editing I was thinking "Gee, all these shots move". Ha. I had rigged up a dolly and was eager to use it.

And thanks.

IMO, if you hadn't said it was a "promotional" video, I wouldn't have known. It looked more like a slider test.
It was the same area by a fence, not different lawnS. Almost no grass shots. But I'm just critiquing the video for theme purposes.
As just a video in itself, the slider work was nice. Just add in a few more tripod shots and such, but overall, nice work!

I agree with the guys above. There are some really nice shots in there (although the bouncy red flower at 49 secs doesn't add anything).

I think I would have kept the shots a little sorter and tried to keep them of equal length as it builds a rhythm. My preference for a promo is to put the product name first and last. You can go for the "Oh right" approach where you sit through the advert thinking "What is this about?" but for this I would suggest more of a "This is who we are - this is what we do" approach

It is difficult to judge this as a promo (or fake promo) as IMHO you need a voice over to tell you what is special about who ever it is (I watched the promo but can't remember who it is about - that might tell you something)

Good point. I felt like I was caught in a loop of the same garden and kept waiting for a different lawn to pop up so much I didn't consider that. Nice input!

You should have used a wide lens since the client is a landscaping company. Details are nice, however, it leaves you wondering what the overall yard looks like.

Take a step back to get the whole picture of what the landscape looks like. The little bank was nice but I was also curious as to what the overall appearance of the yard was.
