I bought a 60d but returned it in favor of the 7d. I really wanted to go to a 5dII but decided to hold out and if all goes well I will be able to keep the 7d as backup when I get the 5dIII
So I am in the waiting mode too...

I feel that as time progresses the significance in changes between models will become less and less until a HUGE innovation is made...that being said, I don't think the 5DIII will be too different, but I guess its cool that it will have the 7D AF system (although I see it has a lot of issues)

I'm interested on why you switched and what you thought between the 60d and 7d.

To tell you the truth it was mainly because of the size of the body. I bought online and didnt get to "feel" them in hand. I have big hands and when I went into best buy and held the 7d it was all over for the 60.
There were other things like the af points, compact flash speed, fps, and micro adjust that sealed the deal for me but I do miss the feel of the 60d battery grip, the locking dial on top and the rear wheel with no joystick...

Ok, thanks... I'm in the process of deciding on a secondary as I wait for the specs of the new lines.

Not really.

I think people are misinterpreting what my subject line states. As stated in the body of the OP, I didn't sell it to get a camera that's not out yet. I sold it because I'm not using it and I had an opportunity to sell it to someone I know that was interested at a price that worked, nice and hassle free.

The 5DIII will be out at some point. When, I don't know. How much, I don't know. What features, I don't know. But when it arrives, I know that if it looks like a body I want, I'll have part of the cash to do the deal. Now all I've got to do is sell my mint 400 F5.6, I may even have somebody interested in that.

It's the old adage of "when opportunity knocks".

:D

Saw a similar thread like this over at a Nikon forum. A few members sold their d700 in anticipation d800 (Aug 24th announcement). It was funny. Never thought it would happen to Canon shooters. :D

I'm with the OP on this one. It's right around the corner. Christmas is 16 weeks away. Canon's not going to let that go to waste. The 5DII is now three years old. It's time for the next model.

Man, I'd like one, but I don't need one. I print a handful of photos a year, and frame none of them (although my wife does) but with full frame I'd probably stretch out and try some semi-professional stuff.

Thank you. bw!
