Ok i really love my mac laptop 2006 mbp. It has worked great for until i started getting into photography with raw files ect and i find the computer not to be fast enough. So anyways i was looking at getting a pc to replace it. I would consider getting another mbp but for the price of there best one i can have one thats 2-3 times faster for he same price. I have customized all the stuff for it but was wandering when i choose my OS can i choose a mac software instead of a windows software? Like Lion?

i recently purchased an i7 17 inch macbok pro with 8gb of ram. I realize this isn't cheap but i can honestly say i've only seen the spinning beach ball about 3 times!

It's amazing, an aperture is only 70 bucks from the app store? bargain!

Do you have a link to this computer? I have doubts that it really is "2-3 times faster" for the same cost.

"Raw" is not an acronym, abbreviation, nor a proper noun; thus, it should not be in capital letters.

I am considering getting a custom puget systems I can get 16gb ram plus a bunch of other top end parts for $230" which just putting a 8gb ram into any mbp will be if I remember off the top of my head is already over that. Sager is also another option.

Oh, so you're comparing the price of a MBP laptop to a custom-built desktop?

For a 15in 6lb laptop I don't really consider it a desktop

PCs are cheaper than macs for a given performance level. Desktops are cheaper than laptops for a given performance level. Swapping from mac laptop to PC desktop will give you great performance at a cheaper price. I don't think anyone will seriously argue with that.

There's no mysteries here. If you want a PC desktop done easily buy a Dell or HP system. i5 or i7 Sandy Bridge processor, 8GB RAM, at least two disks, it'll fly.

Let's not get into a PC vs. Mac debate here…
