Going to SF at the end of September for one week with a day in Yosemite. Leaving the 500 home for this one, but taking the 5d/7d, 24-105 and 70-200 (plus tripod, CPl). Any need for anything wider for the trip? 24 has always been wide enough on the 5d, just verifying.

I think a wider lens is beneficial in both SF and YNP. A lens in the range of 15 to 18 mm on the wide end is what I would want. In YNP, you may wish you had the 500 mm if you spot wildlife, which happens often. I'd keep the 500 mounted on the 7d for sudden wildlife sightings, and mostly keep my widest on the 5d. The 24-105 would also get a lot of use due to its versatility.

Is there enough wide end difference between the 17-40 and 24-105 to make a difference? Otherwise we're talking switching lenses on the 7D between 500 and something like a 10 to 12mm lens.
