Having a tough time with this decision and would like some input.

My primary interest ((currently)) is outdoor family/senior portrait work. Since most of the folks I know are not keen on waking up at the crack of dawn, or staying out past their kid’s story time the majority of my shots will be during nasty lighting conditions requiring using shade with occasional OCF.

I have been strongly considering purchasing a Cheetah Boom with the Q-box 24 to make better use of my 430EX II; I also would love to grab an 85 F1.8 for its incredible IQ to cost ratio; one currently being sold locally for $330.00 with cannon hood.

Thoughts and/or opinions?

I don't shoot such things, but all in all I'd say every little bit helps!

Two accessories that can come in handy in sunny conditions are reflectors and a large diffuser that can "block" and spread the light.

You may get more mileage, i.e. informed responses, by having this thread moved to the Flash/Lighting subforum.

If that makes sense you can make a request to the mods by clicking the Report button (the little red triangle icon at the bottom of your User ID panel at the left of your post). Type in a request and send it off and a mod will see it!
