I do like it although the background is slightly overwhelming.

A tender moment in a horrible spot/time for photographs. The couple appear to be well exposed and the color is good.

The BG is just too blown here. And the spots on his suit are one reason to not shoot in mottled light like this - they are tough to correct, especially if they get on the skin.

There also seems to be a halo aroung the couple from the processing.

It's overexposed...dress and background both. Can't be fixed.

I'm thinking you tried to PP the background to make them stand out more.
I think you have learned that you can't have both couple and this background as it is.
Another approach is desaturate, blur the background, crop quite a bit out while keeping your dimension ratio and expose for the couple (mainly him in your new edit - she looks OK).

In a pinch:

Too much contrast.

To me it looks like the overexposed background was somewhat intentional. It looks like it is a Mormon Temple and has some significance in this shot and gives it a bit of an ethereal feel. I could be way off, but in that context, it works for me.

That said, maybe try a portrait crop and bring down the background exposure a bit, especially around the bride and bring back some definition to the blacks.

This. Also needs a crop, IMO ... a lot of distractions going on from an otherwise "quiet" subject.
