J-Blake Great Googley Moogley! More info | Sep 01, 2011 09:18 | #2 I like No. 1 the best. Of the closeups, it's the least overdone and hardly looks tone mapped at all. Of the landscapes, 6 and 4 look like they have a bit more contrast than the others and stand out to me better, though I like the composition of 5 best. Jon

navydoc Cream of the Crop More info | Interesting that you guys chose those images. A few days ago, Spike had sent me his image #5 above to see what I could come up with for an edit. He also was curious if I could do an edit on another of his garden shots, #2 and see if I could come close to the style of English painter John Constable. Below are my two edits of Spikes images.

J-Blake Great Googley Moogley! More info | Sep 02, 2011 08:12 | #6 I took a shot at an edit of this image as well. I like the composition of it and wanted to see if I could punch it up a tad. Here's my version. Looking at it in preview I like the way it came out except I'd probably use the underexposed shot and try to eliminate the blowout in the cloud to the right of the tall tree. Jon

Thanks Jon - I am partial to #5 composition also....the extra contrast in the others is probab my PP oldvultureface wrote in post #13035363 I like the tranquility in number two. Thanks olvultureface - me too.....one reason why it reminded me of the Constable era (see comments below) navydoc wrote in post #13035844 Interesting that you guys chose those images. Thanks for letting me play with these Spike. I enjoyed seeing all your garden shots. Thanks a lot for these edits - quite different approach but both super. The 1st has that real bright POP/Painter look and the gazebo one (#2) is very, very close to the old English artist style (Constable's Dedham Vale, Hay Wain-ish). I can see Jane Austen writing her novels under the shade of that gazebo. Notice the cloud in the top right - I took mine out but for your edit, it adds to it with the brown/aged varnish look. janok wrote in post #13036557 I liked #3 best - it is hard to make a good composition with too many elements in a picture. Thanks Spike for allowing me to play with it. Thanks for posting the edit...as mentioned, I like yours as it is a bit sharper than mine...or something. The clouds is something I strive to keep from blowing out at the TM stage rather than correcting in post but I know that ties my hands a bit.
