I put together a small set of excerpts from a weekend I spent in Chicago.
The footage is a bit shaky, but I was just getting used to my new prime (50mm 1.8 MKI). :)

I made a very critical error. Trying to juggle both photo and video on a trip.
I ended up with quick, shaky footage and OK pictures. Definitely a shot in the foot.

I'm sure people already swear by this rule, but I just taught myself the hard way.
Focus more on either photo or video. Don't juggle them equally.
You end up with messy memory cards and slightly sub-par quality in all your images.
Follow either a 90/10 rule or the recommended 100/0 rule. Heh.

Nonetheless, comments and critiques are welcome.

The shake was a bit extensive, but you caught some good images. The focusing was a little annoying because you could see where you turned the focus ring, turned again, turned ag... you get my point. That sliver of a focus ring on the nifty-fifty is why I think it is probably the worst choice for trying to pull focus on by hand, or at all.
Liked the music and really liked the view from the top of the building!
Don't be so hard on yourself for your focus. Video and photo are both fun and challenging in their own ways. Do them both, learn along the way, and have fun! :)

Thanks for the kind words! :)

Yes, I noticed the obvious focus pulling as well. :o
I didn't realize how much the focus ring on the 50 MKI (I'll update the OP) turns. Heh.

I'll be experimenting with 60fps conformed to 24fps in the future. I'm sure that would smooth out most shakes to a slower movement.

It has that reality tv look which is not bad.

What was the tall building with the view and how many stories up were you?

Probably the Sears Tower (named something else now).

I didn't realize what the numbers (10,20,30, etc.) were elevator floors until after you were at the top. Also, the portion behind the people getting out of the elevator didn't add anything for me. Agree with the focusing issue.

Great music and a great variety of shots! I really liked the mix around 2:30 with the very out of focus lights on top of the other video.

Thank you. :)

I do agree with the focusing. I need to work on it.
The people getting out of the elevator was more of a filler shot,, to try and build up with the music for the shot of the city reveal.
