For the last several years I've used Panasonic ZS3 as my 'sneak-to-the-concert' camera as it is pretty small and it focuses ok in low light in terms of autofocus speed at tele end. I've used other cameras where you could bring it something larger. Since SX230 getting decent reviews, I wanted to know if anyone had experience shooting it at a concert, or anywhere else, where they had to have fast autofocus at tele end in low light conditions, similar to a concert. I am quite familiar with limitations of point-and-shoots when it comes to such photography. This is probably going to be majority of my use, since we go to a lot of concerts. What I like about SX230 over my ZS3 is that it actually has manual features so I can set up Shutter Speed and ISO as desired, and that samples at dpreview show decent quality at higher ISO levels. Any experience would be appreciated.
This is the shot posted at dpreview review as a sample impressed me at ISO1600 for a point-and-shoot
