This weeks challenge focuses on the phrase "on top" interpreted in any manner you choose.

This challenge begins when posted, and will end at 15:00 p.m. Central Daylight Time Thursday, September 8,2011. Winner of this challenge will be announced shortly thereafter.

6. Photo Name in the message subject line.*
7. Camera model & lens used.* Notes -- post brief EXIF data including ISO, shutter speed and aperture used.
8. Commenting - No commenting during challenge. When the posting is closed and a winner has been declared, comments can be made in this thread.

Thanks for everyone's contributions this week. Lots of high quality pics with a good dose of humor and interesting interpretations.

So, regarding the winning entry this week ... the horizon isn't level, part of the sky is blown out and the main subjects face is not quite sharp ... it all works together as part of a wonderful image bursting with on toppedness, Kevan_G9's "Chicago Willis Tower Skydec - can't wait for the elevator." This is a very striking photo. Congrats, Kevan!

Jason C ... Rise Above ... love the way the horizon generally bisects the frame yet the tree reaches across it toward the moon. Great detail on the moon. Lots of subtle symmetry. Like.

Maureen Souza ... On The Tree Top. Probably the single photo that most strongly suggests the theme of "On Top." Nice sharp shot of a handsome bird. I think if the topic were "Bird Shots" cropping a bit off the bottom would be in order but given the topic, it works.

airfrogusmc ... on Top. The multi colored light's bokeh leads the eye to the roosters face where everything snaps into focus. The bokeh continues behind the subject much wider for a very interesting effect , highlighting the subject. This guy is in charge. On top. Very good pic.

vasbyt ... Wreak on Top. This setting had magnificent possibilities but the undrexposed image takes all the gas out of this one.

teekay ... A Little Thin on Top. Got a good chuckle out of this one, teekay. Nice job.

rawshorty ... On top of a stump. Nice capture with great detail, particularly in the hands/feet/claws. Love the catchlight in those dark eyes. Perhaps a little underexposed.

Danafairy ... Grandma 87th birthday. The "Most Heartwarming Photo" winner . A wonderful sentiment to relate this photo to the theme "On Top."

John B ... Caught in the Act. Who didn't laugh at this one ? The look on the cat's face is priceless. LOL !

PINNACLE ... On Top of St. Martha's Hill. Wonderful composition chock full of "on top." Majestic looking dog overlooking his dominion ... really like this one.

busse ... untitled. Great orange color on the legs brought out by the low light. The highlights on the rest of the bird kind of overpower the neck and face ...I'd try to squeeze a little more light out of those areas.

sandwedge ... On Top. Nice composition. Tough with the sun overhead and the subjects facing down to get a good exposure but sometimes you just gotta take the pic because the moment is right. The girls are deep into it. Nice shot.
