1. After using a Turbo for over a decade before spending about $25 on a new lead acid battery, they are extremely economic to use...in my case, even amortizing the original new purchase price, it was less than $3/mo
2. They work with many, many flash units, not merely the Canon flash
3. Lots and lots of flashes without changing AA batteries in the middle of a job
amortizing eneloops and a 3rd party young nuo pack is cheaper and more cost effective than the quantum sla route. <. $3/mo

8 AA eneloops go for $21 at costco
plus, AA batteries can be used in other electronics rather than just ONE specialized flash.
any way you look at it, quantum battery packs are overpriced, old tech, and too specialized for practical use in 2012. They had their place in the 90's, but not anymore. Quantum battery packs can be bought used for around $80 with typically used sla batteries. Add to the fact that you have to buy special batteries will only add to the price.
-the vagabond mini + any 120v strobe is a better value for higher power setups
-young nuo battery packs + eneloops cover the speedlites
-yn 565ex fill the low- middle range
quantums are good for portraits, but the cost factor does not fall in favor of their system.
