Would like to know if the Mark II would be a good camera for $800 used, compare to my Rebel T3i that i'm not sure if i'll keep, since I have another week of trial, and the Video on the Rebel has some problems with sdhc cards, not all compatible!

So if I want only a good camera for pics, anyone care to tell me the good and bad sides?

thanks

which Mark II? There is at least a 1DII and a 5DII.

You will be hard pressed to find a better camera body than a properly working 5DII.

What do you shoot?

From an AF point - definitely. Durability - definitely. Crop-ability - nope. Lady magnet - you betcha!

1D MKII:

PROS:

Rugged body
Superior AF
8 FPS (IIRC)
Pro body
Weather sealed

CONS:

Screen terrible compared to your T3i
Less MP
Have to buy EF lenses, don't get the choice of EF-S too
Too big for an everyday camera

It really depends on what you do with your camera. Personally I would only by a 1D series if I was a serious sports shooter. I don't need the FPS or the super accurate AF tracking. It is a BIG body and if you plan to use it as an everyday camera, you will get tired of it VERY quickly.

You need to decide for yourself if the 1dII is for you..

I frequently use a 1dIIn and wouldn't trade it for any Rebel series camera. Your T3i has newer technology, video, and is a newer camera with a larger LCD on the back..

The 1dII is heavy, needs big expensive batteries, and takes 2 hands and button pushes to change menu items. However it will focus quickly with it's 45 point AF grid; it has 21 zone metering, weatherproof magnesium body, dual cards, pro build and shoots at 8.5fps.. What's not to love..:)

.... Got some cameras; got some glass ..... I just need one more of each.....

it's just that I don't really like my pics compare to better camera out there.
I'm thinking of getting something used that could make better crisp and sharp pics
and a bigger lens if I can get that for one grand.

I like to take landscape scenes, or shooting at nigh, and yesterday I was'nt happy with my Canon Rebel, I will have to make some other test.....ANY TIPS FOR SHOOTING NIGHT SCENES?

Sure the tripod will do better and i'm thinking of getting a wireless infrared remote control, but yesterday I forgot to take my filter lens off, the sky was blue-purple specially in video mode!

What is the ''bulb'' feature?

I've never used a 1D series camera, but I doubt it would be an improvement over your T3I for what you shoot. A better lens might be (without knowing what you are currently using).

It would be much easier for us to give you some suggestions if you post some samples and list your lenses.

Bulb opens the shutter when you press the shutter button and leaves it open until you release the shutter button.

Works with any SDHC card class 6 or faster for HD video. You can use lower res settings to record on your slower cards, if you insist, but class 6 & 10 cards are pretty much everywhere and cheap.

Hi Tom,

Not really, I'm using a class 10 and still, I heve to manipulate a few settings and it allows me to record more than 5 seconds.
I have emailed Canon about it, and I have to speak with someone ''live'' about it, since there are many problems associated with sdhc card via video.

I have a T3i and have no problems at all with video. I purchased a class 10 card w/ the camera and have had zero issues w/ video, other than the fact that it fills an 8 gb card QUICKLY when recording HD. I'm thinking it's an issue w/ your camera.

As for your question, I personally would not purchase a 1D. Just from reading your questions you're obviously new to this, which isn't bad, but you should you learn on your T3 before you consider stepping up. You can get plenty good pics on your camera and should focus on getting better glass before a new body. Plus, if you're paying 800 for the 1D, there is no way you're getting any quality lens for that camera and staying under your 1k budget. Good luck whatever route you go.

You are right about it, I'm a new to this business :o
The thing is when I see people shooting great pics with better camera, I have a tendency to think it all comes from a good camera, and I'm not talking about artistically!
But I found out that editing the pic also improved the pics greatly!

thanks
