IMO, the price for those who wait will be similiar to those who need it NOW.

Sure, resale of the 5D2 will drop a few hundred, but so will the price of the 5D3 once rebates roll in, refurb discounts, etc... Six months or so down the line.

Sell the 5D2 now for $2100 and buy the 5D3 over premium (lets say $3500) or wait six months, sell the 5D2 for $1700 and buy the 5D3 for $3200 or even less.

IMO, it will equal out if you wait to buy/sell to get it ASAP when it finally does come. I am going to be content with my 5D2 for a while until I can snag a cheaper refurb with a 10% Canon coupon and some Mr Rebates cashback. May take a while, but no rush. By that time, more "honest" reviews will come in. At first, it will be nothing by hype until the "newness" wears off.

Just my .02!

Ouch. $3,500 will keep quite a few folks away from the MK3, including me....

They are "Asking" $2300. They are bringing $1950-2100 in most cases.

Depends really. If Canon shocks the world and actually puts an AF system similar to the 7D, and ups the FPS a little bit, and tweaks the video, they won't be able to keep them in stock...guaranteed.

Hell, who am I kidding...they won't be able to keep them in stock anyway. People are already foaming at the mouth for a replacement.

I remember when the 5D2 was announced, people were unloading their 1st gens so fast. I think for the first few months, the mark 2 was selling for over retail. I think it might be the same with the mark 3 is released.

Or puts more video features that are desired into it. Which they probably will the camera has caught the attention of some very influential people.

I highly doubt that Canon will make the MKIII as feature rich as everyone wants. Its not going to cannibalize its own sales of higher end full frame cameras.

It will be the same, prices will be at a premium until the supply catches up with demand.

This. The features that people describe for the 5Dmk3 are what you get when you buy a 1D.

I think it's just because there are a lot of people that think if they buy a 5Dmk2 they will automatically be an amazing photographer... a few weeks or months later, it's for sale :)

Worked for me with my 5D Classic! So good that the only way I would sell it would be an upgrade to the MkII. Which, BTW, would me me even more amazing!

Price of a 5D mkII in Australia is $1982.00 + shipping (around $40). Yes, it's grey market, but carries a local 1 year warranty. 7D is $1254.00

Regards, Dutch
