I will be heading to Pensacola, Fl in the near future for about 6 months. What sort of photo opportunities should I expect? Any place I should really get to?

Thank you.

Obviously, the beaches are the big draw to that area. Fort Pickens is a place to check out. I think there are tours, or a museum, at Eglin AFB. Over at Mobile Bay is the USS Alabama Memorial. Just a little farther is Bellingrath Gardens, a good day trip in the Spring. Back in Florida, check out Ponce de Leon Springs. Tallahassee has some good tours of the Capitol and Governor's Mansion.

i think that about covers it. My girlfriend goes to school in Pensacola (sadness :() but i can ask her if there are any other places to go and check out. Also, there a few lighthouses overlooking the water and if you time it right, the Blue Angles do demonstrations.

Thought of a few more places to consider. Florida Caverns, near Marianna, is worthwhile. Seaside is a planned development that has special homes near the beach. Chattahoochee is a quaint old town with interesting architecture. Fairhope, AL is another quaint town near Pensacola.

Hey,I live in Pcola. That's what we call it here. Yes,the beaches are nice, but there are tons of places besides the beach. Spots that almost every photographer here has shot at would be the graffiti bridge on 17th,Ft Pickens, and Ft Barrancas. All are definitely a must. Don't forget about the Historic Village of Pensacola. Just go through the whole downtown area.

worrptangl, I seen your name and know it from MCB! :D

I live on a bicycle, sleep in a tent, eat pasta and work in the oil and gas industry, and shoot photography because I'm bad at it.

worrptangl, i'm in the Coast Guard. We have a station and some other people out there we service. The base is really nice I was just there today. Don't know if you're an O or not but if you aren't than you're basically saluting 90% of the time.
