Newby here so forgive my ignorance - I have searched the net and this forum but no luck. I have a 550d and a 270EX II I want to be able to fire the flash off-camera wirelessly. I have an old wireless trigger that fits on the camera's hot shoe but it needs a cable to connect it to the camera and I don't think that's possible with the 550d also I'd like TTL if possible. Any advice gratefully received ... best Roger

If you want TTL then you have 3 options I think which are (in order of cheapest to most expensive): an off shoe cord, Pocketwizard Flex/Mini or Radiopoppers.
If you can make do without TTL then there are a whole lot of cheaper radio triggering options available.

Thanks Mike - out of my budget sadly but now I know - good of you.

Check out Flashzebra for less expensive ETTL cords: http://flashzebra.com …rds/ettlcords/index.shtml (external link) They'll ship to a lot of different countries.

One more option is to upgrade to the 600D and utilize it's built-in master flash.

You can sell your 550D for $550 and then buy a used 600D for about $700. Only costs you $150 for full wireless remote ETTL capability. (maybe less if you get a good deal) ;)

As long as you are not outside on a sunny day and as long as there is line of sight between the master and slave.

Check the link in my signature for a tutorial on using the Canon wireless flash system.

I haven;t had many problems using it on a sunny day.
