I recently came back from my trip to Jasper and Banff area. It was cloudy during most days I stayed at Jasper, but fortunately I managed to get a few shots during the mornings.

Following are a few shots of Pyramid mountain reflecting in Lake Beauvert (the lake next to Jasper Park Lodge).

Comments and critique always welcome!

Wonderful series!!

I really like the first shot... the stones under the water, then the reflection, then the mountains and sky... and the tree to the right.

Which bring me to this question for you veterans: Being a newbie... I'm always fighting myself on landscape shots with "should I include the foreground tree or not?"

Are there any general rules or pointers you could share regarding when to include trees in the foreground... what makes it good... what makes it a distraction?

Thanks,

Andrew K

Thanks a lot winam, Al and Andrew for your comments!

Andrew, I often like to include a foreground though it's not a hard rule and these things are obviously subjective. I know I didn't help answer your question, but guess that's how things are in this case :)

2nd is my pick, nice composition. I go to the lodge to shoot on every visit, but it would be nice to stay there.

They're all great, but the last one belongs on your wall.

Awesome series! The 'framing' you did for uploading here makes them look awesome.. but even without it, they're incredible shots.

The first is my favorite, followed by 4,3, and 2. All are excellent though! Any one of them would look great printed.
