Hi,

Is it possible & worthwile to try to use a

PENTAX DA 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 AL with a

Fotodiox Lens Mount Adapter with Dandelion AF Focus Confirmation Chip, Pentax K/PK to Canon EOS Camera adapter,

on a Canon EOS 50 D camera ?

It has a very good price & reviews.

There are manual focus lenses that work well with an adapter. I'm not certain the advantage of adapting a slow pentax zoom though.

I guess it's possible. Can't really imagine it's worthwhile.

See the reviews on Amazon.com and dpreview - and check the price.

Assuming you have to go out and buy the lens and appropriate adapter, you're going to end up with so-so manual kit lens. Why not buy the real thing from Canon and get a fully functional 18-55 with stabilization?

I've read many mixed reviews on the adapters for non-Canon lenses. Have you tried it yet?

I'm 99% sure that the lens you are talking about does not have a manual focus ring which means you would have to use the lens wide open all the time. I'm equally sure that it's an AF lens which means it will have a focus ring that is less than ideal fore manual focusing.

I have a Pentax K mount 50mm f1.7 with that adapter and it works fine just like it should.

You would be better off just getting the Canon 18-55 or whatever it is. Shouldn't cost much more and would be a lot simpler. I had that Pentax lens. It was decent but nothing too great.
