After multiple times that I tried to fix the problem that occured when I tried to record a video....the video stopped after 5 seconds.
So I tried to found out why or how to fix it.
A lots of wrong answers from the net, a lot of talking from people who knew nothing......but I managed to call Canon in the end.

The main problem was after 5 seconds of ''shooting video'' the camera stopped recording by itself, and a message appeared ''video stopped recording automatically'.'

I was at a Roger Hudson's concert in Ottawa (Canada) when that happened, with my new 32 gig sdhc card (class 10...20mb speed).

I did formated it, even at low level as it was recommended.

It has nothing to do with a class rate or the amount of gigs the card has, cause.....I fixed the problem at some point.
To fix it, I only had to press the ''set'' button'' then a little rectangle appeared on the screen, then I moved it around the screen, and then I could press the record button on video mode again and could record video without stopping after only 5 seconds.

But since I did not want to do that trick everytime, I called Canon's technical support, and the lady told me it was not ''normal'' procedure. So I followed her instruction and we could'nt fix the problem. At the end she asked me what speed was the SDHC card and I told her 20mbs and she said it was too little.I turned around and told her that I even tried a 4 gig class 4 and could record if I played with the ''set'' button....so she finally admitted it has nothing to do with card speed or size.

But still, I went to Best buy and returned the camera, and they gave me another one in return, I got in my car, assembled the new T3i, and put my sdhc card in, press Video record and it happened again, it stopped after 5 seconds.
So I re-formatted it, and now it works fine.phewwwwwwww

Thanks Canon, even if they could'nt fix the problem, they took the time to listen to fix it! What a nice support experience!:D:D:D

Wow. How strange. Good thing you got correctly functioning camera in the end! Sounds like that first one had a bug in the software somehow. Congrats!

Yes, I think they call that ''firmware''
She asked me a lot of questions, and took notes on all of em.
I'm sure it's going to go to the research lab :D
My name may be on the firmware, something like
Sega 1.05

:p

Hail to the King
