So i'm a big fan of how grant edits his photos. the problem is, i have no idea how to do it. i'm not looking to copy exactly what he's doing, but if somebody could start me off in the right direction i would appreciate it thanks. all i know is that he has a 5dii and cs5.

These are very good. There are many other photoshop actions that do similar kinds of things. Google is your friend.

To do your own, create a new layer copied from the background, apply a slight color shift of your choosing such as blue or red, using curves or split toning and then dial in some vignette.

Hmm, when you say "Google is your friend", well, yeah, but could you toss out a few search terms to help the OP or maybe even post the results of a quick but meaningful Google search? Over all the years that I've spent on the Internet, I've never seen the phrase "Google is your friend" actually help someone who didn't know how to actually get the needed info from Google!!

that helps for the color but in the black and white shot there are those little white spots if you know what i mean. very film like. i SUCK at editing so if anybody could give me a quick rundown on what that is i would appreciate it.

Looks like he's raising the black point a bit, and giving a lot of those images a brownish tint to the shadows and a greenish yellow or greenish blue tint to the highlights. It's also desaturated a bit, which is why the colors all seem to work together so well: there's hardly any variation.

Of course it's all made possible by his shooting technique which is quite fantastic. Hope this helps.
