I fill a pan with water. Blow a soap bubble onto the surface of the water. Steer the bubble to the drop zone by blowing on it. Open the shutter on the camera. Trigger an electronic water valve that drops two drops of water. The water drops pass by an IR beam and breaks the beam which sends a signal to an electronic delay. The first drop passes through the soap bubble, impacts the water surface in the pan and splashes upward. The second drop then passes through the bubble and collides with the first one's splash coming up. Once the delay amount is met in the electronic timer a signal goes to a Pocket wizard transmitter that sends a signal to three receivers. Each receiver triggers the flash attached to it. Each flash is pointing at the drop zone through semi-transparent colored plastic. Once I see the flashes trigger I close the shutter and view the results. depending on the results I may choose to change the drop sizes, delay between drops, delay from IR trip to flash, or any combination of these to alter the look of what I am getting.
