Thanks! It looks crooked but, it's the lay of the land imo. I made sure the gate was straight when I processed the image. ;)

Fun shot. The vertical lines are good, but you're right the perspective is off to one side causing the left gargoyle to appear smaller and lower than its brother. There's nothing really wrong with that, but since the focus is mostly on the gate entry as a whole, it might be worth a try altering the perspective some. Boy, you could have a pp picnic with this scene.

Does Alice Cooper live there?

Hehe! If you look at the columns one is higher than the other. So, it looks like it's off. ;) I rechecked the image in LR again to make sure. Thanks for the feedback Kevan.

Too funny: I'm looking out my living room window at the same gargoyles right now. Nice pic.

I really like this, a lot. I have always had a fascination for this type of thing, along with vampires, werewolves and other gothicy (is that even a word?) stuff.
As for the perspective of the gates, you could just say they've gone to Hell:oops:

It's odd to see something like this. I literally pass when I leave my community and can't help to look at it all the time.

Yeah, I've always liked this kind of stuff too. It's just something you don't see everyday. :)

Gargoyle is a term that most people use to describe a stone figure intent on warding off evil spirits. The term is partially correct, a Gargoyle is a stone image (protection against evil spirits is secondary) that was meant to divert rain water away from a Gothic stone buildings foundation. Any other stone figure that doesn't remove rainwater, but is there for decorative (or protection from evil spirits) is called a Grotesque.

I am no authoritarian on gargoyle/grotesque history. I simply like looking for them throughout NYC. I am considering starting a thread "gargoyles", but for the life of me .. I don't know how to start a new thread. Sorry for the long winded speech.

I dig the entrance way to your community. If I'm ever fortunate enough to embrace suburban style living, I'm gonna build a wall, fence and gate with a few grotesque stone statues to protect my investment.

I think that was the intent with your last statement on why the owners put those gargoyles at their entrance. What's cool is that it's an electronic gate.:)

This guy watches my back, he sits right at the top of the staircase that brings you to my loft/office. I am considering drilling a CCTV camera in his eye. This way I will see what evil he protects me from.
