Hi I know this has been talked about on 100's of messages and i did look around but i just cant get my head straight on at this moment.

I have been approached by an agency who wants to use one or more of my images for branding purposes for a client.....they approached me direct and asked for exclusive rights.

the agency's portfolio is quite impressive and also their work looks very good.

this all shouldnt be a drive for asking, i know, so i did research and am lost in the small and big prices asked.

I was thinking to charge US$ 500 per image, based on the fact that its exclusive, used for a company branding, and consider my hours of toiling to get the things right.

I consider myself a part time professional, shoot regularly for companies, mainly food though (shots in question are product though and non food) and make a reasonable income through this asides my day job. My hobby "gone wrong" is paid for and i have a handsome amount of pocket money from it.

am interested to see what the consensus is here, thanks anyone for helping me out on this.

I'm no expert, and I didn't sleep at a Holiday Inn Express either, but . . .

$500 for exclusive, indefinite company branding use of an image seems low to me.

Again, no expert, but how about some up front payment for exclusivity (like the $500), and then some annual payment for exclusive use for each year they continue to use it as a company branding image? I would hate to see you miss out on the possibility that an image becomes the lasting branding image for years or decades to come. You could offer exclusivity for as long as they wanted it, again for an annual fee, and agree up front to keep it "off the market" for a contract close out fee and period. For example, in 5 years, if they want to terminate the use, they pay you a termination fee to keep the image exclusive for the next three years.

Just a thought . . .
