Just pulled the trigger on the 5D2. Big deal for me. Huge, really.

But I feel like I've definitely 'paid my dues' using the good ol' Rebel for the past several years and as my first SLR.

Anyone made this jump (or similar) care to share their experience? What were the biggest surprises for you?

I'm expecting a lot considering the jump from an old (ancient!) entry level body to a 'pro' modern body.

Got the Adorama kit that includes the 16GB Extreme Pro Sandisk CF, and extra LPE6 Battery.

btw, if you want to see what I've shot with the 350D, you can see my work here:

Awsomness is about to hit all your senses at the time you open that box.

Bump in IQ, detail and DOF control
Bump in housing
Bump in controls
Bump in settings
Bump in ISO performance

And yea, pretty much alot of bumps down the list.

I used a 350D for a while in tandem with a 10D as a two camera setup. I found myself shooting more and more with the 10D and less and less with the 350D.

I really felt the change when I switched from a 10D and 350D setup to a 30D and 40D pair of bodies. I never looked back and gave the 350D to my son-in-law who enjoys it immensely.

I now shoot with a 7D and a 40D as my main bodies and I am quite happy with that combination.

I forgot to add, if anyone's curious what I've shot with the 350D for the past four years, check out my website: http://www.charles-song.com/ (external link)

I'll be bracing for impact for that unboxing. :)

REALLY looking forward to the clearer/larger(?)/better viewfinder too.

i went from a t2i to 5d2 in a span of 4 months and even that was a huge jump. there's a "look" to FF that's just diff from a crop. you'll be amazed at the images you get. and your lenses will finally make sense on FF (but you need better ones now)

To me the DOF and the color gradients are better with a full frame. I think this is where people get the notion of magic with a FF sensor. Everything is sharper as well since the pixels are large and in charge and the anti aliasing filter is weaker.

You have some great shots from your 350D. With a 5Dii most everything should be easier, and you'll be able to do more (e.g., low light shots at high ISO will have immensely better image quality).

Some Canon stuff and a little bit of Yongnuo.

I went from a 350d to a 5dii via a 40d. The IQ is so much better, but I've still got a bunch of great shots I took with the 350d - don't expect it to make you a better photographer!

Can anyone compare the AF between the two?

I know the 5D2's is considered somewhat archaic by some.... what improvements can I expect there?

The center point is one of the most accurate Canon ever made for one shot - does pretty good in Servo too.
