You left out the most important stage. Stage 4 is where you realize to get those great shots posted here, it's not the camera, lens or lighting equipment alone but the knowledge and skill you must acquire to use those tools properly. From the initial setup to the final post processing of an image the hardware is only a small part of capturing an enduring image.
Stage 4 is investing in yourself so you can use those tools successfully.

I did get my morning chuckle out of the way reading your post though.

Stage 4 would be:

I finally opened the manual and figured out how to use my camera. After discovering it's neat uses I've decided that I can stick with the 7D because I really don't need a Full Frame body. I can do it all with this.

I don't find this thread offensive. Mostly because it really describe how POTN is. ****load of threads about 7D vs 5D, full frame vs crop etc, Which 70-200?, 24-105 vs 24-70 etc... And all of them are the same lol

Even this thead is nothing new for POTN.
The camera, lens, light stages were mentioned here few times already.
I remember someone has it in the signature as well.

Dunno, could be. I don't usually pay attention to the camera or lens forums as they tend to go on about the same thing all the time. :s

I didn't find it offensive at all, but like it or not, the newbies are what keep a forum alive. While true that just about every relevant topic has been covered at some point, we need those "what camera should I buy" posts or you'd have a pretty dead forum. Come on, the veterans can only argue about crop factor vs field of view so many times.....
