It's not so much the focal length of the lens as much as it's how far away your subject is. I'm not sure what guide numbers you're talking about go until 105mm. Maybe you're talking about the zoom setting of the flash? Wikipedia has a pretty good definition and a formula you can use. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guide_number (external link)

1Ds Mark II, 5D Mark III, Canon AE1, Yashica Electro 35, Mamiya RB67, Yashica 124, some lenses with red rings on them, and some flashey things

Sorry, I was not so clear in asking about it.

http://photonotes.org …s.pl?flashType=canon430ex (external link)

This flash have zoom till 105mm and GN @105mm is 43 meters.

Using the formula in the wikipedia article I have generated a distance table with aperture 1.4 -> 22 on x-axis and flash power 1->1/64 on y-axis for focal length 35mm, 50mm and approx 85mm.

I like to have similar table for 135mm too, now guide number I have to use.

The guide number of the flash is 43mm with the flash zoom head set to it's longest setting (coverage for a 105mm lens).

With anything longer than 105mm mounted to the camera, the flash will zoom to 105mm and the GM will be 43m. 43m is the biggest GN this flash can give you.
