Background is a 4 image manual blend in order to get the total info from shadows to highlights.
Canon 1ds m3 w/ 16-35 m2
ISO 100 f18 1/6sec - 1/100sec

See attached image for model shot.

Some 40 layers and about 4 hours of work in photoshop CS5 and Lightroom 3..back and forth..mostly PS though. Found an awesome free use commercial/private particle brush from photoshop tutorials for the blowing sand effects. Fun stuff. ;]
